Manchester United star Brandon Williams has admitted to being “jealous” of Mason Greenwood and James Garner when he first joined the club.
Williams is now a regular member of the first team, making his debut at the start of last season,
The left-back made a total of 36 appearances last term, and is now viewed as a future star for England.
However, Williams admits that he hasn’t always seen things panning out that way as a young striker trying to break through.
The 20-year-old has admitted that he had doubts about his own ability during his time at The Cliff, United’s academy base.

And Williams even revealed that his outlook was even worse when he compared himself to the likes of Greenwood and Garner.
I wasn’t really happy when I went to The Cliff because I was used to being in school and being the best player,” Williams told the club’s official website.
“But when I went there I wasn’t one of the best players really. I was down there in the bottom group.

“Mason’s always been there [as one of the best players]. James Garner, he was up there as well. There are a few players who are not here as well now.
“I was jealous at the time because they were skilful and everything. I think that’s why I went further back, because I was a striker but now I’m a defender.”
Reflecting on his time at The Cliff he added: "I went to The Cliff when I was seven and met everyone, some of them are even my closest mates now.
"Some have stayed and some have gone but I’m still really close with them."
