Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kept his Manchester United players in the safe haven of The Lowry Hotel last night.

The Red Devils boss was taking no chances with his team’s preparations ahead of taking on Everton.

United face Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees at Goodison Park this lunchtime in a crucial game for the club and Solskjaer in particular.

A poor result could cost the Norwegian dearly with his job on the line heading into the international break.

So instead of risking any disturbances by sleeping on Merseyside, United checked into their usual pre-match base

United normally stay there for home games, and felt it would serve them better than The Titanic Hotel at Liverpool's Stanley Dock.

The Red Devils’ squad has previously been awoken by a fire alarm during a stay at The Titanic, according to the Manchester Evening News .

And Liverpool fans once let off fireworks outside the hotel while players slept.

Given it was fireworks night on Thursday, there was a real chance supporters of Everton could look to replicate the incident.

United have not used The Titanic since the 2018/19 campaign and stayed at The Lowry Hotel before both trips to Everton and Liverpool last season.

Solskjaer needs a response from his players today after back-to-back defeats.

And asked pre-match if he is feeling the pressure, Solskjaer told BT Sport: “You’ve got the best possible shirt over your head, so go out there and enjoy it. That’s how I felt when I played, that’s how I feel now when I lead them out.

“I just want them to express their talents and what we want from them today is a confident team, working together.”
