Amad Diallo trained with the Manchester United first team on Thursday ahead of making his debut for the Reds.

Diallo's transfer to United was announced in October and the 18-year-old made his move to Old Trafford official earlier this month after gaining a work permit.

United agreed to pay an initial £18million to Atalanta for the youngster although the fee could reach £37m depending on a number of add-ons.

Diallo arrived at Carrington for the first time on Wednesday and linked up with the first team for a training session on Thursday.

Here are three things we spotted from the session...

United were desperate to sign a right winger during the summer but failed to land priority target Jadon Sancho. A number of alternative options were considered and United fans noted Diallo's primary position was on the right wing.

The youngster has played a number of roles for Atalanta and his last appearance before leaving came on the left flank.

During the 11 v 11 practise match, Diallo reverted to his usual role on the right, potentially suggesting he would fill that position when his first-team debut finally arrives.

Diallo impressed United fans before his move was made official by posting footage of his dribbling ability and finishing skills during an Atalanta training session. In the footage captured by United, he had limited opportunities to showcase his blistering pace and quick feet.

However, in the 11 v 11, he made an excellent run that would have delighted the United coaches. His team was on the attack and the youngster darted away from his marker and opened up a gap to run into. Jesse Lingard and Fred were unable to pick him out and lost the ball which visibly frustrated Diallo.

Nevertheless, those are the sort of runs United fans will be desperate to see when he's in the team.

Bailly connection

Diallo confirmed he would be asking his countryman Eric Bailly for advice following his move to England. Adapting to life in a new country in one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world will be daunting for the 18-year-old but Diallo revealed he has already spoken with Bailly ahead of the move.

He said: "Absolutely, Eric will be a definite reference point for me. I’ve actually already been in touch with him over the last few months and we’ve been chatting. I’ll be asking him for advice and will be listening to all he says, and also the other players who speak French and Italian like [Paul] Pogba for example, he will be another good reference point for me."

Bailly has wasted no time in helping his new teammate settle at the club as the pair were spotted deep in conversation on the way back to the changing rooms.
